All Seminars will be held in Jack Knight Hall at Calaveras Big Trees State Park
from 10:00 am-12 noon
Presented by Michael Wurtz. Mr. Wurtz is the Archivist of the John Muir Papers Collection at the University of the Pacific. He will speak about John Muir’s two visits to Calaveras Big Trees and his other visits to the Sequoias of the Sierra. Mr. Wurtz organized the Park’s archives in 1991 and his parents were docents at the Park.
Presented by Dr. Harry Sharp, a retired professor from the State University system. He has developed this program as part of his docent activities at our Coastal Redwoods State Parks. The book The Wild Trees by Richard Preston has introduced many people to the climbing and study of the tallest trees.
Admission to the Park is $8 per car. The seminars are free and open to the public. Pack a lunch, bring the family and plan on spending the day among the Giant Sequoias. For more information call Calaveras Big Trees State Park at 795-3840
